Wells, E. Harford. The battle of stainless steel. Art and Industry vol.65, no.389 (Nov.1958) pp.172-177 illus.
The author attacks the complacency of British stainless steel cutlery and associated table goods manufacturers who now face stiff competition from abroad as the European Common Market and lower trade tariffs introduce extra foreign competition. It is noted that some British firms have recognised the danger of cheap foreign imports and have responded with new designs. A large number of photographs show designs in stainless steel from around the world including cutlery and metalware designed by Magnus Stephensen (for Georg Jensen Sølvsmedie), Bertel Gardberg, Folke Arström, Robert Welch, Sigurd Persson, Henning Nørgaard, Sigvard Bernadotte, Acton Bjørn, Carl Pott, Tias Eckhoff [name incorrectly given as Tias Ackhoff], Ainar Axelsson and J.W.W.
