Page Wood, Barbara An English display school. Commercial Art vol.6, no.33 (Mar.1929) pp.123-127 illus.
Lady Page Wood*, managing director of Arundell Display Ltd., discusses the Arundell Display School of Decoration which she recently co-founded with her brother (J. Arundell Clarke) in England. She explains that they started the school with the aim of setting a new standard in the presentation of merchandise. Although British goods are the best in the world, they are, she says, badly sold - if sold at all. "Advertising in England has made rapid strides during the last ten years, but window display cartons, showcards, etc., are far behind". They brought over "a clever young German" to teach at the School and work as their designer. The School has day and evening classes four days a week. The teaching is practical, the students making a display in each session in dummy windows. The article is illustrated with eight examples of displays by Arundell Display Ltd. and by students at the School. [* Barbara Arundell Wood (née Clarke),wife of Sir John Stuart Page Wood],

Goldsman, Edward N. Are British window display standards good enough? Commercial Art vol.7, no.38 (Aug.1929) pp.55-60, 85 illus.
The author criticises British shop display men for their lack of innovation and for resorting to copying Continental methods. He asserts that the Anglo-Saxon and Latin temperaments are so different as to make Continental window displays unappealing to the British public. The article is illustrated with a selection of what he considers to be the best examples of British window display, including displays for Selfridge & Co., Acme Wringers (designed and produced by Arundell Display Ltd.), Swan & Edgar and Kodak, each of which is discussed and described. [9 illustrations]
