Designs from abroad: S.S. Oriana. Industrial Design vol.8, no.3 (Mar.1961) pp.52-55 illus.
A report on the interiors, furniture and fixtures designed for the P & O-Orient Line's new cruise ship S.S. Orient by a design team lead by the London firm, Design Research Unit (Misha Black, Milner Gray, J.R.M. Bramwell, partners). The article is illustrated with photographs of cane chairs designed by K.F. Taylor of the Rotyal College of Art, library shelving designed by Laurence Scarfe, the veranda cabins designed by R.D. Russell & Partners, a compass mounting designed by the Design Research Unit, a climbing frame for children designed by June Lyon of the Design Research Unit, two ceramic ashtrays designed by Ronald Armstrong of the Design Research Unit, and a plastic mural by Robert Perritt of the Design Research Unit for the first class Junior Club.
