Aish, Clifford Augustus [1878-1951. UK. Architect]
Clifford Augustus Aish was born in Rhymney, Glamorgan, Wales on 18 September 1878. He was articled to Willian Henry Dashwood Caple (1866-1939) in 1895 and remained with him as his assistant until 1900. He then worked as an assistant to Henry Alfred Cooper of Cooper & Williams in Kettering, Northamponshire from 1900 to 1903; in the Architects’ Department of Halifax Borough Council from 1903 to 1905; and to the Surrey County Education Committee Surveyor from 1905 to 1907. Aish commenced independent practice as an architect in 1907. He subsequently designed a number of cinemas in London.
He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects in 1910. He was also a Member of the Society of Architects (MSA). His address was given as 26 Hollingbourne Gardens, Ealing, London in 1910; 415 Oxford Road, London in 1910 and 1914; and 71 Benson Road, Croydon, Surrey in 1939. He died in Croydon, Surrey on 2 March 1951
