Adkin, Alexander George [1865-1949. UK. Architect]

 

Alexander George Adkin was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England on 29 July 1865 and was articled to James Ledingham (1849-1926) between 1881 and 1886. He also attended a Technical College, probably in Bradford. He worked as an assistant between 1886 and 1888, probably to Ledingham. In 1888 he commenced practice as an independent architect in Bradord and for a period was in partnership with Alfred Ryshworth Hill in the architectural firm Adkin & Hill. Adkin was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911, an a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1928. He died on 11 August 1949. At the time of his death his address was given as Seddlingshaw, Bolling Road, Ilkley, Yorkshire
