Ernest Henry Abbott was born in London, England on 6 June 1859. He was articled to Robert Louis Roumieu (1814-1877) in 1877 and to Reginald St. Aubyn Roumieu (1854-1921) and Alfred Aitchison (?-1914) of Roumieu & Aitchison, and remained with them as an improver. He also attended the South Kensington Schools in London.
Abbott commenced independent practice as an architect in 1887 and had offices in London. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1911 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1925. He died on 24 April. His death was registered in Paddington, London
