Frank Abbey was born in Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England in 1869. He was articled to his father, Joe Burman Abbey (1839-1917), in 1886, remaining as his assistant until 1900 when he commenced practice as an architect in Huddersfield, Yorkshire in partnership with his father as J. B. Abbey & Son. He was later in partnership partnership with Hanson [possibly John Henry Hanson (1851-?) Abbey was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects. He was active as an architect until at least the late 1920s. He died in 1960. His death was registered in Huddersfield, Yorkshire
