Adamson, Gareth [1926-1982. UK. Illustrator/Poster Designer]

 

Gareth Adamson was born in Liverpool, England in 1926 and studied art at Goldsmiths’ College School of Art, University College London. In the 1950s he worked in London and designed a poster, entitled ‘Boat Race’ (1952), and ephemera for London Transport. In 1957 he married a fellow student at Goldsmiths’, subsequently known as Jean Adamson (1928-). Together they moved to Newcastle, where they worked on a series of children’s books - Jean drew the illustrations and Gareth wrote the storylines. Gareth Adamson died in 1982
