Adshead, Kathleen Winnie [1891-1974. UK. Jewellery Designer/Painter]

 

Kathleen Winnie Adshead [also known as Kathleen Winny Adshead; and as Kathleen Austin] was born in Manchester, England in 1891. She was active as a jewellery designer and painter from c.1915 onwards. She participated in the Arts and Crafts Exhibition Society’s exhibition at the Royal Academy in London in 1916 at which she showed a gold necklace, enamelled with set sapphires, spinal rubies, and seed baroque pearls. The piece is illustrated in ‘The Studio’ February 1917 (p.22). She also exhibited one work at the Royal Miniature Society in London in 1922. She married Leslie Magnus Austin (1896-1975) and sometimes signed her work Kathleen Austin. She died in 1974.
