Affleck, J. [1874-. UK. Poster Designer]

 

James Affleck [commonly known as J. Affleck; also known as J. Affleck] was born in Manchester, England in 1874 and was active as a poster designer between the 1890s and the 1930s. He was known for designer posters for the theatre, particularly pantomine posters. A poster designed by him for the pantomime Puss in Boots and printed by Messrs. Armitage & Ibbetson is illustrated in ‘The Poster’ December 1898 (p.247). Aflleck also designed a poster entitled "If you’re heading for the Cup Final travel Metro to Wembley Park" for Metropolitan Railway in 1930.
