Achuff, James T. [-. USA. Ceramist]

 

James T. Achuff studied at the University of Wisconsin in the late 1930s, during which time he became interested in ceramics and from between 1947 to 1950 he studied the medium at the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University in Alfred, New York. He taught at Oxbow Summer School in Saugatuck, Michigan from 1949 to 1951, and at Chautauqua, New York for Syracuse University, New York between 1954 and 1958. He later taught at the Pitcher High School in North Syracuse, and in the Syracuse Adult Arts and Crafts Program. A photograph of a low-fired ware bowl by him is illustrated in ‘Design Quarterly’ nos.42-43, 1958 (p.6). Achuff’s address in 1958 was given as 111 Buckingham Avenue, Syracuse 10, New York
