Yoshio Akioka was born in Japan in 1920. After working as a freelance designer, with Itaru Kaneko (1920-) and Junnosuke Kawa (1919-) he co-founded the Tokyo-based industrial design firm KAK Design Group [also known KAK Industrial Design Ltd.] which designed a wide range of products for numerous Japanese clients including Seiko Corporation, Minolta, Matsushita Electric Industrial Company, Densoku Kogyo Company, Primo Sound, Inc., and Sekonic Electric Company. Photographs of a colour meter designed by Akioka for Sekonic Electric Company, and of a Minolta camera he designed for Chiyoda Kohgaku are illustrated in ‘Industrial Design’ vol.6, no.7, July 1959 (pp.55, 66)
