Alamaru, Lipa [1919-. Romania. Illustrator/Graphic/Poster Designer/Lithographer]

 

Lipa Alamaru was born in Piatra Neamt, Romania, on 5 September 1919. He was a self-taught artist who honed his skills in a number of design studios. He susequently worked as a freelance illustrator, graphic designer and poster artist. His posters were first shown in 1947 as a member of the Dralco group of artists. In 1957 he participated in the XI Triennale di Milano. His work also featured in exhibitions in Warsaw, Budapest, Prague, Leipzig and Italy. In 1948, he designed an exhibition for the Union of Democratic Rumanian Women in Paris, followed by the Romanian Red Cross exhibition in Belgium in 1950. He was art editor of ‘Rumania Today’. Examples of his posters are in the permanent collection of the Arts Museum of Bucharest. Alamaru was a member of the Uniunea Artistilor Plastici (UAP)
