Peter Adler studied in New York at the Cooper Union, from where he graduated with a BFA, New York University, and the Brooklyn Museum Art School. He subsequently worked as a graphic designer and art director from the 1950s onwards, specialising in annual reports, banner ads, catalogues, collateral, direct mail, environmental, logo design, outdoor, package design, posters, print, and web design. Prior to establishing his own advertising and design firm, Peter Adler Advertising Design, he was Vice President - Account Creative Director at the advertising agency Lohmeyer Simpson; and, President - Creative Director, of the advertising and sales merchandising agency Adler Schwartz, Inc. Clients for whom Adler has worked include Ciba Geigy, Grey Pharmaceutical Co., Eli Lilly, Hoffman LaRoche and Pfizer, Audi, BMW, Jaguar, Mercedes - Benz, Porsche, Subaru, Volkswagen, Volvo, Avis, CBS Columbia Records, General Foods, General Tire Wallcovering, Mennen, Seagrams, Timex, Willinger Bros., Airco, American Standard, Johns Manville, Mobil, Westvaco, Sandvik-Coromant, Techbuilt, TNT Red Star, Trans Caribbean Airways, Trans Freight Line, the Art Directors Scholarship Foundation, BisNet, Community School, Temple Emeth and Highcliffe Clothiers Ltd. An illustration by Karel Kezer from the cover of a folder for the Grey Pharmaceutical Co., art directed by Peter Adler and produced by the W.D. McAdams advertising agency is featured in ‘Graphis’ vol.14, no.77, May/June 1958 (p.259); and gift record package for Columbia Records art directed by S. Neil Fujita, designed by Peter Adler and illustrated by Marty Moakoff illustrated in ‘Industrial Design’ vol.6, no.4, April 1959 (p.67). Adler was adjunct professor of computer/graphic design at Bergen Community College and Fairleigh Dickinson University. He also taught advertising and marketing at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
