Albitz, Ruth (Albitz-Geiss, Ruth) [1924-c.2004. Germany. Graphic/Poster Designer]

 

Ruth Albitz [also known as Ruth Albitz-Geiss] was born Ruth Geiss in Berlin, Germany on 2 June 1924. She worked as a graphic designer and poster artist in Berlin from the 1940s onwards. Two posters she designed are illustrated in 'Graphis' vol.7, no.36, 1951 - a poster for the Nordstern (North Star) Life Assurance Company, Berlin, designed with Hans-Adolf Albitz (p.259); and a poster encouraging the ownership of books by school children (p.261). Ruth Albitz was married to Hans-Adolf Albitz (1920?-1969) and was a member of the Berlin Group of the Bund Deutscher Gebrauchsgraphiker (Association of German Commercial Artists) She died in c.2004
