Albin-Guillot, Laure [1879-1962. France. Photographer]

 

Laure Albin-Guillot was born Laure Meifredy in Paris, France on 14 February 1879 and studied music and drawing. In 1922 she received a gold medal in a competition organised by the 'Revue Française de Photographie'. In 1925 she held her first solo exhibition in Paris and became a member of the Societé Française de Photographie (SFP). In 1928 she contributed images to the journal 'VU'. In 1931 she began living at 43, Bvd. Beausejour, Paris (16e) where she remained for many years. The following year she was appointed head of the Archives Service, photography, at the Beaux Arts, Rue de Valois in Paris. In 1936 she illustrated Paul Valéry's book 'Le Narcisse' and subsequently illustrated several other books. Albin-Guillot was an authority on photomicrography and wrote articles, and a book on the subject, 'Micrographie Decorative' (Paris: Draeger Freres, 1931). She died at the Maison des Artistes in Nogent-sur-Marne in France on 22 February 1962.
