Adelman, Ivor [1918-1980. UK. Poster Designer/Painter]

 

Ivor Adelman [also known as Isaac Adelman] was born in Mile End, Essex, England on 23 February 1918 He studied at St. Martin's School of Art in London, following which he worked in the Art Section of Denham Film Studios before practising as a freelance commercial artist. During World War Two he served as a gunner in the Army. A wartime sketch by him is illustrated in 'Art and Industry' November 1944 (p.150). A poster entitled, 'Guernsey', he designed for for British Railways (Southern Region), is illustrated in 'Art and Industry' August 1958 (p.41). He died on 7 March 1980. His address cat the time of his death was 5 Beech Drive, Boreham Wood, Hertfordshire
